THE BEECH WOOD
MONTE VENERE
|
|
|
 |
|
Thanks to the
unusual climatic conditions, the beech trees have grown
at a
lower altitude than normal.
That is one of
few examples in the world !
You can climb up
to the top of Monte Venere, where you can enjoy a spectacular
panorama of the lake.
|
 |
On the top of Mount Venere
you can enter into "Pozzo del
Diavolo", a deep little cave.
Neolithic remains were
found here.
|
The towns near Lago Vico
are Caprarola and Ronciglione.
Caprarola is known by all lovers of
architecture for the magnificent Farnese Palace, built by the famous
architect Vignola in the XVI century.
Ronciglione is recognized as one of the most
beautiful medieval towns in the area.
Also here you can find examples of Vignola's
work, for example the Unicorn fountain. |
|
A fascinating city, easy to visit on foot, where you can see the
passage between different
architectures.
The magnificent Papal Palace and the Priori, the Pellegrino Quarter,
Piazza della Rocca and its fountain, the Sanctuary of Santa Rosa ...
are only some of the places to visit.
After a walk, nothing
better than a few hours at the Terme dei Papi.
The hot spa waters are
perfect for health and relaxation.
